Enrolling on 4hOnline

You have decided to try this 4-H thing out so now what??  Well first CONGRATULATIONS!!! Deciding to jump into 4-H is the great thing to do for your child's future. I participated for 11 years and look at me... just kidding!!  But seriously, if you have committed to being a part of 4-H it is time to get your child enrolled on 4hOnline. 4hOnline is the web-based registration program that allows youth to be participate in county and statewide events, including county and state fairs. Nebraska just passed in January of 2021 that all counties across the state will have enrollment on 4hOnline open until June 15th. HOWEVER, we strongly encourage you to sign up early so that you can keep up to date on upcoming events.  4hOnline can seem kind of daunting the first time you get on! Below are some videos you can you watch as you go through the process. Here are also some helpful tips: Use Chrome as your internet browser. It is the only browser this program likes for some reason!  Go to  htt

Why Should I Join a Club?

When 4-H originally started, it revolved around the idea of clubs. Groups of young men and women came together to learn new skills from adults and from each other. Each club had the responsibility to educate its members, participate in community service activities, as well as work together to achieve common goals. As the years have gone on and families continually get busier, rules have been altered in order to allow youth to participate as “independent”. While this allows for more flexibility, it does not provide a well-rounded 4-H experience. Today I want to focus on clubs and club involvement so hopefully you’ll see what you're missing if you're not active in your local 4-H club! Or you may get some new ideas for clubs!  1. Clubs are like families!! When I was in 4-H my club did many different activities together. We had our monthly meetings which involved games, making decisions, and just hanging out together. My favorite part about being in a club was July! In July all of

YQCA Enrollment

What in the world is YQCA you ask?  YQCA stands for Youth for the Quality Care of Animals. It is a REQUIRED course that helps teach youth about the proper care and management of animals. 4-H and FFA livestock shows aren't just about showing the animal, after all!! Instead we strive to teach you about responsibility, record keeping, empathy for others and animals, goal setting, the list could go on and on.   YQCA is a class that helps youth with some of the background behind taking care of animals before and after the fair. The program focuses on three main areas throughout the training: Animal Well-being, Food Safety, and Life Skills.  Youth that take any of the following animals to the fair are REQUIRED to participate in YQCA or they will NOT be able to sell their animal. Certification is due on June 15th.  Market Beef Market Lamb Market Goat Market Swine Rabbit Poultry *Notice that Breeding stock, bucket calves, and feeder calves are not required. However, we highly encourage

Welcome to 4-H!!!

4-H is an awesome program for youth to develop life-long skills that will set them ahead of their peers in their academic and professional journeys ahead of them. I am not just saying that because I have to! I am saying that because I am an example of it!  My mom enrolled me in 4-H when I was 8. Things were different back then - no clover kids and you could only take one project your first year. That was a tough decision with so many things sounding so cool and interesting at that age. With my mom's influence, I started with sewing. I could enter within Sewing Level 1, which was called Sew for Fun back then, and actually take 3-4 different projects. That began my sewing career. While I don't do a lot of sewing today, I entered at least one project every year until a senior in high school. I made dress-up clothes for game days, games for kids, and a few other random items. I was honored to represent my county two years at the State Fashion Show.  While I didn't realize the
